1. How has your teaching journey been so far?
I can say that my teaching journey has been challenging and interesting. The COVID19 Pandemic has affected our educational system, which pushed the Department of Education to not allow face-to-face learning. As a result, I had to use a blended learning approach at the school where I teach.
Being a teacher, my capabilities were particularly measured through the delivery of lessons to my students. Over the years, I tried to hone my teaching style and techniques to make sure that all my students met the learning objectives of the lessons.
2. What made/makes you feel fulfilled as a teacher?
My students and my family are the reasons that I feel fulfilled as a teacher because they inspire me to continue my profession. Teaching per se is my passion. Through teaching, I want to produce talented and excellent youth because the progress and welfare of our country depend on them.
3. Could you share some examples of what makes you feel fulfilled as a teacher?
The fulfillment of being a teacher, is to inspire those around me – especially my students – to be positive, creative, and happy in life. I do this through sharing my knowledge, skills, and experiences with them. It makes me happy to know that many of my students see me as their inspiration to pursue and dream big. I remember when one of my students told me, “Sir, ang galing ninyo po magturo (you are excellent in teaching) I want to be like you someday.” I was touched by this and encouraged to do better.
4. What made you passionate about teaching?
First and foremost, my mother wanted me to be a teacher. She has been one of my inspirations to pursue this profession. Aside from that, I love teaching because I want to inspire others as well by sharing my knowledge and expertise to them.
Sabi nga ng iba, “walang nayaman sa pagtuturo”. (Others have said, “no one has gotten rich from teaching”) But I chose this profession simply because the best gift that a teacher can give to their students are themselves. By sharing their knowledge and talents. Through this, a teacher can contribute to their growth and development. It would be fulfilling to be able to see them succeed in the future. The best outcome of being a teacher is to see all of my students become successful in their chosen career.
