Technopreneurship Centers were conceptualized to fortify the seminal gains derived from the academe based Technopreneurship education and to sustain the interest of students and non-students who are already venturing into innovation and entrepreneurship. These centers carry the essential components to fortify the S&T-based startup ecosystem by consolidating the entrepreneurship efforts of the academe, industry, government, and private sectors into one initiative.
Technopreneurship Center Empowerment for Universities in the Philippines (TechUP) Program is dedicated to assisting Philippine Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) in establishing/enhancing their respective technopreneurship centers. Through this program, PhilDev pushes for development of university-based technopreneurship centers that will provide a venue for students to explore their technopreneurial potentials.
It also provides the academe an opportunity to provide experienced-based technopreneurship education for their respective communities and to help build the pipeline of future innovators that can contribute to the country’s inclusive economic growth.
Goals & Objectives
This project aims to drive innovation and technopreneurial-thinking in the Philippines by empowering the academe in developing their own centers of innovation within their campuses.
Specifically, the project aims to:
- Establish the foundations of a working Technopreneurship Center within the participating universities;
- Promote technopreneurial thinking among university students;
- Develop and strengthen functional linkages that will enable the development and growth of enterprises in the city; and,
- Boost the local startup industry that contributes to its community.
